There often seems to be a lot of mystery and intrigue around exotic belly dancers. People have been seduced by their sensual moves, their come-hither kohl-rimmed eyes, and alluring barely-there outfits.
Why not take a cue from these beautiful, mysterious women and add a little bit of spice to your next encounter with a belly dancer-themed ensemble? Here’s our top tips for getting you ready in a pinch.
Order a Mask
This adds a whole other dimension to role-play. It gives you a little bit of anonymity, and behind the mask you’re free to be whoever you want to be and let your inhibitions—and imagination—run wild. Our picks for this are the ones featured above (clockwise from top): the Colombina Pois Red, the Burano Leather B, and the Fellini A. Be sure to check out our erotic masks page here for more
Pick an outfit
Needless to say, there isn’t really much to this, as it should be a relatively tiny (and sheer) ensemble. You want a bra and panty set that is heavily embellished with beads and sequins, and a small beaded skirt. There are two things you want to remember about making this outfit work: that it should be heavily beaded, and that the skirt be placed low on the hips—on or just below your hipbones. You can order ready-made belly dancer costumes online, or make your own by sewing beads onto lingerie.
Create a mood
You know how in movies, belly dancers are often surrounded by men sitting on plush velvet pillows, candles are burning, and there’s always a light haze in the air? Well, we’re not suggesting you go out and buy a smoke machine, but creating the right atmosphere will help with the role-play. A few simple things you can do are:
- - light candles—lots of them. Make sure they are protected by glass and not placed near anything flammable.
- - Burn some incense. It’ll smell exotic, and create a tiny bit of smoke too.
- - Place large throw pillows around the room. You never know where the mood might take you.
